Our Studio by the Sea
We have been enjoying our studio and workshop by the sea with our view of the ever changing sand flat.
John has been experimenting with new bits for his router giving some lovely edges to custom frames.
I have expanded into some new mediums such as acrylic ink on tiles and acrylic mono printing on watercolour paper.
The sunsets at the beginning of the summer were an inspiration for a series of paintings at the gallery space at the Morell Library in a solo show this summer.
Spring?
The groundhog did not see his shadow here last week so winter should be waning. The 10C weather today that feels so springlike is such a tease as it feels like the beginning of May. Time to enjoy some Vanco tulips that look so much like spring. Another day of no snow to shovel and clear sidewalks to walk on.
Enjoy the day.
Halifax Forum Farmers Market
John and I are back in city and into our winter activities. You can find us on Saturday, Nov 4th at the iconic Halifax Forum site set up in the Bingo Hall as a vendor at the Farmers Market from 8:00am to 1:00pm.
Come visit us and while you there, pick up your veg, baked goods, protein, and have a coffee.
We will have samples of custom frames for sale as well as a variety of Maritime original art.
Hope to see you there!
Plein Air Adventures Continue
The amazing summer weather continues here on Prince Edward Island. Our summer bucket list included canoeing so one day this week we packed a picnic lunch and a watercolour painting kit. Our paddle on the beautiful St Peter’s Bay started a Creek Rd and ended at the floating dock on the Morell River at Rossiter Park for our lunch then back home to Creek Rd.
We saw eagles, osprey, herons, pipers and gulls. Our route took us by the harbour entrance to Red Head, in the Morell River, under the Railway Bridge and after battling the wind and current, under the Morell River Bridge.
After our lunch we headed back on the river with the wind and current so out came the paints. A quick little painting from the moving canoe of the Railway Bridge was fun. We pulled up on shore so I could paint the bay side of the same scene.
Pics to follow. Off to Charlottetown’s Art in the Open. Enjoy the day. Let yourself soar.
Morell Farmers Market – July 9/Week 2
Morell Farmers Market -July 2
We had an exciting start to the market season with the first Sunday market on July 2nd. A cold and rainy start to the day was perfect weather for a visit indoors to get a coffee and breakfast sandwich or a smoothie, or yummy treats from two bakers on site. Fresh in season veggies and local organic meat and eggs were available. Fresh berries, other local and or sustainable products were there.
You could purchase a raffle ticket to support the St Peter’s Harbour Lighthouse restoration or a duck for the Morell River Run Festival a Duck race.
John and I had framed acrylic and watercolour paintings for sale with a variety of sizes and price points. Our booth was busy and happy customers left with local art for themselves or as gifts.
It was great to meet new folks and see friends. Hugs and smiles always available at Sand Flat Studio.
Cheers
Karen
